Use Edge Banding To Make A King-Size Bed127

Edge banding is a thin strip of material that is applied to the exposed edges of plywood, MDF, or other wood panels. It is used to protect the edges from damage and to give the panel a more finished look. Edge banding can be made from a variety of materials, including wood, plastic, and metal.

For this project, we will use wood edge banding to make a king-size bed. The bed will be made from 3/4-inch plywood, and the edge banding will be made from 1/4-inch thick oak.

Materials:

* 3/4-inch plywood
* 1/4-inch thick oak edge banding
* Wood glue
* Clamps
* Router
* Flush trim bit
* Sandpaper
* Finish of your choice

Instructions:

1. Cut the plywood to the desired size for the bed. For a king-size bed, the plywood should be 76 inches wide by 80 inches long.
2. Apply wood glue to the edges of the plywood.
3. Apply the edge banding to the plywood, making sure that the edges are flush.
4. Clamp the edge banding in place.
5. Use a router with a flush trim bit to trim the edge banding flush with the surface of the plywood.
6. Sand the edges of the bed to smooth them out.
7. Apply the finish of your choice to the bed.

Tips:

* When applying the edge banding, make sure that the grain of the wood is running in the same direction as the grain of the plywood.
* Use a sharp router bit to get a clean cut.
* Be careful not to over-sand the edges of the bed, as this can damage the edge banding.

Conclusion:

Making a king-size bed with edge banding is a relatively easy and inexpensive project. With a little time and effort, you can create a beautiful and durable bed that will last for years to come.
