DIY Edge Banding Jig Plans336

As a leading manufacturer of edge banding in China, we are often asked for advice on how to apply edge banding correctly and efficiently. One of the most important tools for edge banding is a jig, which holds the banding in place while you apply it. A good jig will make the process much easier and faster, and it will help you to achieve a professional-looking finish.

There are many different types of edge banding jigs available on the market, but they can be expensive. If you are on a budget, you can easily make your own edge banding jig using materials that you can find at your local hardware store. In this article, we will provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to make your own DIY edge banding jig.

Materials* 1/2-inch plywood or MDF
* 1/4-inch plywood or MDF
* 1/2-inch PVC pipe
* 1/4-inch PVC pipe
* PVC pipe caps
* Wood screws
* Glue

Tools* Circular saw
* Table saw
* Miter saw
* Drill
* Screwdriver
* Sander

Instructions1. Cut the following pieces of plywood or MDF:
* Two pieces of 1/2-inch plywood or MDF, each measuring 12 inches by 24 inches
* Two pieces of 1/4-inch plywood or MDF, each measuring 6 inches by 12 inches
2. Cut the following pieces of PVC pipe:
* Two pieces of 1/2-inch PVC pipe, each measuring 12 inches long
* Two pieces of 1/4-inch PVC pipe, each measuring 6 inches long
3. Assemble the jig as follows:
* Glue and screw the two pieces of 1/2-inch plywood or MDF together to form a 12-inch by 24-inch rectangle.
* Glue and screw the two pieces of 1/4-inch plywood or MDF to the inside of the 12-inch by 24-inch rectangle, flush with the top and bottom edges.
* Glue and screw the two pieces of 1/2-inch PVC pipe to the inside of the 12-inch by 24-inch rectangle, parallel to the top and bottom edges and 6 inches from the sides.
* Glue and screw the two pieces of 1/4-inch PVC pipe to the inside of the 12-inch by 24-inch rectangle, perpendicular to the 1/2-inch PVC pipes and 6 inches from the top and bottom edges.
* Glue and screw PVC pipe caps to the ends of all four PVC pipes.
4. To use the jig, simply place the edge banding on the inside of the jig, with the adhesive side facing up. Align the edge of the banding with the edge of the workpiece, and then clamp the jig in place. Use a heat gun or iron to apply heat to the banding, and then press it down firmly onto the workpiece.

Tips* For best results, use a sharp blade on your circular saw and table saw.
* Be sure to measure carefully and cut all of the pieces accurately.
* Use a strong glue that is specifically designed for bonding PVC.
* Allow the glue to dry completely before using the jig.
* If you are applying edge banding to a curved surface, you can use a heat gun to soften the banding and make it more pliable.
